    Alpha bite tires?

Just picked up a pair of these Ritchey tan walls off cl for ten bucks a piece. 75% condition. Any opinions on these tires. They look like they will roll fast as they have a continuous centre tread.
Does anybody know what years they were produced?

They're from the late '90s and were generally intended to be a front tire. The Omega Bite was the rear version of the tire.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

Came out as early as 95, and as late as 98. Tan wall was an option until 97/98 and then the WCS version went to blue wall. Great front tire. I've heard of running them on the rear but never tried. Hey, for 10 bucks give them a try.

I seem to remember them being around even earlier, say 92ish. I had a set of Alpha's & Omega's in the WCS red-tred on my bike in either 92 or 93. Decent enough front tire but I think I remember liking the 2.35 Z-Max better up front.

You said it, Jack lantern, the 2.35 in the ffront worked great. Plus, I agree, I think the Alphabite was around earlier as well.

Speaking of Omegabites, love that tire. I still have one left nearly new, but last summer a buddy of mine shredded a new I had when he got a flat and decided to still ride through a section. Crap!!!! So, that one is toast now....
Good friction shifting is getting hard to find nowadays....
