    89' IBOC rebuild

Last night I acquired a 1989 Mongoose IBOC comp with a seized seat post (main reason I got it for a whopping price of $0). I am looking at building it into a retro cross country bike so i'd like to keep the cantis cromo fork and such. My question is what is a good rim brake compatible wheelset for such a concoction? Now i'm off to go break up a beautifully strong union between and alloy post and steel frame!

The plan is to use a new xt groupset so it will be a 2x10, forgot to mention that originally.

If you're going with 10 speed XT that's going to drive your wheel choice - you'll need 10 speed compatibility.

You're not really looking for vintage stuff, just get some rims and build up wheels or buy new 10spd stuff at your LBS.
    Don't call it a gooseneck.

The plan is to get that post out.

    Then let the Chaos ensue.

Oh the post stood no chance. Little dry ice and the combined heft of me and my rather massive room mate got it out in about an hour....after my father laughed at us then pointed out the fact Alloy/aluminum cools much faster than steel.
