1st NorCal Vintage Group Ride of 2014! China Camp on Sunday, Jan 26th

Hey all you retro grouch bastards, its time to make our way back to Marin County for a vintage gathering.
I'll update this post with more details soon, but I wanted to get it on your radar early so you can set the time aside to be there.

    General Info -
Where: China Camp (park along the road by the kiosk)
When: Sunday, January 26th, 9:30am, rolling by 9:45
Route: Our usual 10 mile counter clockwise loop w/ optional mini extra loop.
    Pace: Casual/Social
What: Vintage MTB strongly encouraged. It should actually be mandatory.
Please keep in mind we now need a pass to ride the China Camp trials ($3 bucks).
China Camp State Park: Trail Passes

We're working on details for post ride eats.

You've missed enough of these to where you're almost obligated to show up! Social time is good.

Great day out there guys! We are very lucky to have amazing weather to match the amazing bikes.
On any given day, my drop bar Jelly Bean Salsa would be tough to beat for cool factor out on the trail. Today it was the most plebeian. Go figure.

Well done, guys! NSR, that Trailmaster looks great. I love all your bikes.

Scooder, your Potts look great! Same with yours, Joe! Wow! So happy to see SSMike, Shawn, Eric, Halaburt and Claussen's bikes too. All well done (claussen...get in the trade thread pronto and try to get a smaller frame. )

    I'll see y'all at Keyesville, I hope.

Maybe he means the old legs driving the train.

But yeah, awesome bikes! Classen---you should swap that frame for Eric's white one. Might fit you better.

I believe everyone is standing around waiting for me… unaware that I was slowly meandering back along the trail looking for a lost quick release nut.

1st NorCal Vintage Group Ride of 2014! China Camp on Sunday, Jan 26th w/ Ameybrook.-damn_damn_damn.jpg

Other than this minor technical malfunction cutting my ride time in half and quadrupling my walk time, the weather was great, the bikes lusty, the company outstanding, and the beer cold (thanks again Geoff).

As penance I shall read this article every day for a week and post it here so that all are reminded of the importance of tightening your QRs before you ride.

Right? Not one spot, but three! I was riding nervous for the rest of the day. :|

Yep! We had a few guys stop and chat us up. You can always tell who's been riding since the 80s/90s. Didn't register with the whippersnappers rolling through.

Stupidly, yes. I need to start dumping my crispy tires, even if the tread looks good. Just pains me to do that.
We did the standard counter clock wise loop, which is pretty fun actually. The harder you push it, the more fun it is...but man is it crowed out there. Dangerous to go all out.
And a double lap or some extension would be ideal, but thats also hard when factoring social time in to it.

We do them several times a year around the Bay Area. We're lucky that there are a lot of us local to make these things happen.
