1992 Team Violet Yo Eddy Build

I managed to put together a very nice & complete M900 gruppo to equip this Yo. The parts are all in excellent condition (I had to give up the nicer cranks and rear derailleur for the Moonrise Attitude), but all in all a near mint package.

I need to find some plastic sleeves for the top tube run cables before I tighten everything down.

I also chose to go with a black Syncros (over a silver Thomson) and a black Hyperlite (over a silver one) - any thoughts??

Yes it would have but I went with a regular salsa stem and had it painted to match.... I do have a front brake cable hanger coming.

Straighten your headset so that the XTR logo is pointed forward, and then put tires on it.

    Nice looking bike!
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

Yeah, I did it the other way first before I noticed that there are two logos. Agreed!

I have a nice NOS Dart/Smoke lite combo coming to complete the setup, can't wait to get it on the road.

lol. yeah, don't forget to put tires on it. The ride is noticeably improved.

I'd vote against the plastic cable liners. Looks too much like a Giant or Trek that way...

    That's beautiful!

I toyed with that color combo, but ultimately decided on straight team violet. My next one will be Team Grello Fade.

I'm waiting for my NOS dart/smoke tires to come in.

I decided to go with cable donuts in lieu of the liners, good advice from forum members!

Looking good so far but I'll withhold judgement until it's finished (you know, like tires) but one suggestion is don't repaint!
    Looking for:
    • Bontrager Comp crown, 1" threaded
    • Syncros Revolution, drive side 172.5

Hopefully the tires are just for some photos, then switch them out for something you will ride.

    Good choice on the donuts.

Are there voices in your head that tell you to repaint everything?

Other than that, I would like most of your bikes.

it looks nice, and I'm sure it will be great when it's built, but..........

here's my problem with repaints: (maybe biased from my BMX collecting days were everything has gotten a bit crazy)...it looks great today. You, and everyone on the forum know it's a repaint, but in a few weeks/months/years you sell it to someone and "probably" tell them the paint isn't original. Then they sell it and "probably don't" tell the buyer it's a repaint. Then down the line it shows up on Ebay as a "mint original" Fat...most or all of us have moved on by then and, well, you get the picture...

Yeah, I think I screwed the pooch with the stem. Might send another one in for matching repaint.

Man, you're not a very trusting person are you?

This is a restoration, I don't claim it to be anything else. If you've followed my previous thread you'd know it as such. Much like old cars get restored so can bikes, planes, watches, etc.

Why? Aren't you just going to sell it down the line?

While I can't officially comment on such thoughts within the confines of this post ;-) I should have chosen a better stem.

I had other options, for some reason I went with this one... I want to build a good usable bike, if it rides like crap due to poor component selection that's not good.
