1992 Slim Chance (yes it is a road bike)

Don't think this one saw much use (check out the rim side walls). Not a real common color? Pretty much a full Shimano 600 8 speed STI group.

How did these bikes ride? Unlike Salsa's and Bontrager's road bikes, these never really appealed to me.

What's the little yellow squiggle between the tabs of the seat binder? Certainly not for a Hite-Rite!
    Don't call it a gooseneck.

It's a tab or ear off the frame, common on the wicked as well, maybe other models.

Not sure if there's any purpose, other than to keep the collar from spinning..

Same color as a Monster a friend of mine owns. Nice.

Interesting detail, but I cannot ever remember seeing a (properly sized) seat collar spin. I used to see a lot of frames come with a drop of blue Loctite drizzled in the gap, which would sometimes take off a chunk of paint if you ever needed to remove the collar.

Really sweet bike though. I have a hazy memory of seeing at least one of these coming with a 700c version of a Yo/BOI segmented fork ... was that a dream ...?

Yep, the tab is there to keep the seat collar from rotating.

The seat was on there when we got it so we left it. Wouldn't have been my choice though!

Great looking bike Jeff. I didn't realize that they used TSX tubing on these. Very very cool.

I used to own a Chris Chance, which was the model made after the "Slim" - the later model came with slightly beefier tubes and a segmented fork. That bike really well and I regret selling it. I'm sure that the Slim rides equally well.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

Never had one spin either, FWIW. Bit of an eccentricity of the maker if you ask me. Part of the boutique charm?
