Could be one of the best Potts' I've seen with nothing I'd change. And my size. Little sour on this one, but great to see such a killer example.

Another beautiful bike! I really need to make a trip to your museum. All these bikes are available for riding the local trails - right?

Wow, a perfect bike. Where did this one come from? And more importantly tell us how Rumpfy got screwed out of it?

Haha! I didn't. It was no where on my radar. I'm just a jealous guy because I'd like to own it.
FFB is difficult to buy/trade bikes from/with...they have everything!

FFB say's it's 20" c-t, it looks smaller than that. The first 3 digits on th BB is 687, I thought the first digit is size and the second 2 is the year?
BTW, Rumpfy, I thought your perfect bike is a 18'-19", so don't feel too bad

Potts were measured c-c if I recall, and the 6 stands for June and 87 the year.
That's a real beauty!!

I assumed the 687 in the serial was June of 1987? The rest of the serial, 151, would be the actual serial? Can't imagine there were 151 bikes in June. Was 151 a running total?
This one MOMBAT: 1987 Steve Potts

has a serial number of 1287162 so December of 1987 and number 162. So in 6ish months, 9 bikes were built? less than 2 per month? Sound right?
Kinda cool to have 2 bikes with the same color scheme but with different parts.

Oh yeah, did Steve measure c-c? If so, it would be a 19"

151 would be the running total for fillet-brazed steel Potts'es. Welded steel Potts'es (i.e., CCR's), steel Phoenixes, and Ti frames each had/have separate running number sequences in "Steve-World".
In the earlier years, (1-2 digit) Month and (2-digit) Year were at the front end of the stamped serial numbers. In later years, it is typically only the 2-digit year stamped.

Now my serial # 989214 makes sense.

Where is your build thread?

It'd be cool to see a side by side photoshoot of the two FFB Potts'. The more I look at the paint, the more I really like it.

If you tried to describe the colors with the blue and gray to white fade I'd be like "meh" But seeing on this bike is amazing. Whoda thought?
