    1987 Ritchey Timberwolf help

I gotta another Ritchey coming, hope to have it by next week.

Its a 87 I think by the components, there might be one on the oldmountainbikes website but there is no picture.

It has a fillet seat tube and bottom bracket but the headtube is tig also the fork is tig as well.

There seems to be no serial # unless its under the cable guide, there is 2 letters on the BB "ES"

Well anyways the main question is should i powdercoat it or have it painted, the paint is bad bad on it.

Anyone ever powdercoat a Ritchey or is that as dumb as it gets.

    thanks

I don't think there's anything wrong with powdercoating it.

And congrats! Why is it that the Ritchey people can't seem to have just one?

i think it is a Timberwolf i really studied the pics last night and think the bottombracket is tig, the seat tube i can't tell the pictures were taking just right so you couldn't tell maybe or i'm just that unlucky. It has the cheap shimano deore stuff.

which i think may actually be better because i won't feel bad putting some Kookas on it and doing a franken type build.

What happend to the rest of your message

Anyways i think powdercoating is the way to go, theres a couple powdercoating places that will do blast and powdercoat for about $130.

I can't find a paint shop locally that will even paint a bike for some reason, which i thought was kinda wierd.

Sorry, I found it long winded.

Are you in the Seattle area? Bill Davidson still uses paint.

Powdercoating is the way to go, so many more options for color and texture now. Much more durable although some colors tend to fade quicker than paint it seems.

Yeah gonna powdercoat it, the paint is destroyed. Then i think i'm gonna build it up with some Kookas, almost NOS mavic 231's with bullseyes, and an xt groupo. I figured since i have a close to original full fillet i can frankenstein this one a bit

I know, Thats all i got right now thats super cool that aren't on anything. i have a ton of XT cranks but those are boring. How bout some Sugino AT or Takagi Tourney XT, i have some Stronglights but there doubles and there cottered, wonder if there is a way to make them triples.

I can't seem to get my hands on any Cook Bros.

I think I have some Sugino AT and or the Tourney XT's which would look way better than those Kookas!
Got Cook Bros for that era also but those stay with me.

Both of these are nice but belong on older frames.

Post pics of the frame when you get it. Interested in seeing it...
