New question here. 1" RS SID worth?

i'm looking to maybe pick up a frame to build up, but i'm trying to determine how much of the asking price is being attributed to the long-travel 1" rockshox SID (the blue one).

i've seen a few of the old 1" judys on ebay to have a sense of those (speaking of which, did you see the one listed last week or so w/ a starting bid of $175 ... zero bids of course).

    anyway, i'd appreciate any insight.

    thanks in advance.

I guess it would depend on the condition.

I've paid about $150-200 for a very clean, tuned example of a 1" SID.

When 1" SID's were the hot ticket item, they were pulling $300+ easy.

I think the market has settled with those though. Under $200 would be good....less is better.

    shouldn't get ahead of myself

    thanks rumpfy...

if i end up buying i'd be tempted to keep it on, but i suspect it slackens the HA too much for my liking.

in the meantime, i'm finally almost done w/ my first bike project.

    cheers.

Well...I put a 63mm SID on a non suspension corrected Slingshot and it didn't slack things too much...so you should be fine.

    Whatcha workin on?

And more importantly, what did you finish!?

well i had hoped to unveil tonight, but too tired to take proper photos...

actually finished up sunday, but didn't feel right about posting before the maiden voyage (this bike was built to be ridden) --even though i'll have to clean it first now!

nothing too exciting for you VRC veterans, but seeing how it was my first project i'm quite pleased w/ the results (and the ride).

    look for it tomorrow night...
