Just Riding Along (GoPro HD, NO POV)

People seem to have grown tired of the POV angle, so I thought I'd try using the GoPro for something else. Setting up the shots is a bit of a guesswork without the screen, but it usually works fine... Using the 960p mode allows for a little vertical movement on the editing phase when putting together the 720p version.

Well, that is very good and I think it communicates more of the feel of the ride and just being out there than a POV version would.

    Nice riding too, smooth.

Great video. Is the panning effect a camera setting or something in your editing software?

Big thanks to everyone for the comments. The panning is done in the editing software (Adobe After Effects in this case, but it should be a simple thing in just about any software).

Nice work. I appreciate the amount of time you had to take to setup and ride each shot (then go back and take it down).

Not much flow to be had when making a vid like that, but the positive comments will flow I am sure...

I'm curious about how you did this

did you record at 1080 which gave you extra res to zoomout and pan around in at 720

or did you just record at 720 and zoom in a bit and then added the pan?

    either way great vid

Sorry for the very late reply. I record at 960p mode, this gives 240 extra pixels vertically compared to the 720p mode. Shooting at 1080p mode would not give the same result because it's in the same 16:9 aspect ratio as 720p.

Watching again... one of those shots looks like it was done with a zipline camera almost.

    Great!

I am glad that this video got bumped back up, I missed it the first go-round.

    Nice work.

The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas.
