GoPro vs a waterproof compact still/video camera

    I have a Panasonic TS3:
    DMC-TS3/DMC-FT3 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global

The DMC-TS3 has recording capability of full HD 1,920 x 1,080 movies in AVCHD format:
    DMC-TS3/DMC-FT3 | PRODUCTS | LUMIX | Digital Camera | Panasonic Global

I am looking at getting a GoPro Hero2 Pro. But the more I look at the video specs for the TS3 the more I wonder what the advantage to having both a GoPro and the TS3.

    - What advantage does a GoPro offer over the TS3? Or is the line blurring as the technology advances?

Well for one, the GoPro has 2 different casings that will filter out that annoying wind noise. If it's that bad with the Panasonic tilted towards the skier, imagine the sounds you get if it was facing forward...

The Panasonic's fov isn't as big as the GoPro's. That's another potential issue

my vids are taken with the ts2 /ft2. I got mine mainly as a tuff holiday camera, but I would like a wider field of version when filming but its a great camera its just a compromise at the end of the day.

I'd say that gopro is much more robust. Another big advantage is the whole mounting system. Bigger fov (fisheye lens) too.
