Hello there! I am a trail runner moving from Texas to Portland next summer. I stumbled on the MTBR trail reviews and forum accidentally while looking for a bike for my husband, so I wanted to ask you all how the cyclists and trail runners get along together up there. (I'd ask some trail runners, too, but haven't managed to find any online yet.) Folks are mostly nice to each other here in Houston, although there are the occasional runners and bikers who wish the others would get off the trail. Is it pretty much the same up there?
There are alot of friendly people here, especially in the biking community. But in portland, watch ur bike, and keep it locked , theres alot of stupid bike theifs.check out ernies in westbrook. the river trail is a very fun trail but its currently washed out (needs new bridge in spots). Welcome
The trails range from paved and smooth gravel, to rocks and roots, typical New England terrain.
Most people are nice. In some areas there is a lot of bike/pedestrian mix. In other areas, it's mostly mountain bikers. We give walkers/runners the right of way. I haven't seen too many conflicts.
Hope you enjoy the area.
