Saddleback Mountain to Phillips via Fly Rod Crosby Trail (Maine)

Planning on ridding from Saddleback to Phillips via the Fly Rod Crosby Trail. About 24 miles ?

Has anyone done this, what is the trail like ? Plan B would be to bail out and ride the snowmobile trail back.

That is a gorgeous part of Maine. The coast of Maine gets all the attention, but the mountains are amazing as well. If it's past bug season at least! I'm kind of glad most of Maine never gets visited.

It is a hiking trail (Fly Rod Crosby). Rode the snowmobile/atv trail the whole way. The direction we went saw 2300+' of up and 3700' of down (picked the right direction to ride).

So did you not ride the "hiking trail" and instead ride the ITS trail? If so, why? I've seen some photos of the hiking trail and it looks very nice.
