    closest places would be...
fox forest in hillsboro, pretty abandoned I've heard, never ridden it.
Elm brook? Heard there's singletrack there
    obviously concord
and as mentioned hop-ev, but it's usually mobbed with dirtbikes and 4 wheelers.
determined to put the "mountain" back in "MOUNTAIN BIKING!!!" "HIT IT!"

Elm Brook has more or less been abandoned too. Fox has some nice stuff, but you need some one who knows it to enjoy it. I was led through there by James McDonough a few years ago when we did a Hillsborough Classic Redoux.
Concord is my location and there is plenty to ride here.

weare. weare? banjo land. man, one of the most gruelling mtb races packed into 18 miles was the covered bridge classic round those parts. one loop 18 miler. straight up/straight down and poorly marked course. i would NOT want to get lost out in them woods. good times. still hurts to think about that one. james's race was awesome. still banjo country, but not quite as scary banjo

In G-Town, try the Conjugal Trail at the State Pen. It's a lil sketchy though, technical.

OP, your best bet is making the 30 minute drive to Bear Brook. There's a good mix of single and double track, 8-30 mile loops. It's $4 to park, and they give you a so so trail map. If you decide to go there, PM me, I'll give you some loop ideas.
