Heading to Maine for a week, looking for rental and riding info

I'm headed to Hartland for a week with my wife's family at their cabin, and I'm itching to ride during MY vacation.

I'm well aware of Sunday River, and it's only a couple of hours from the house, so i'll try and make it there.

My bigger concern is that I won't have a rig to ride in Maine, except at Sunday River (where I can rent a DH Kona...). I'd ideally like to branch out and ride every day on local backwoods trails and hunt for my own fun.

Anyone know of good and reasonable MTB rental facilities that rent by the week? I'm flying into Hartford, and driving through York, so that opens up options. I've had limited success finding info, but figured a couple of Maine natives could guide me!

    Thanks in advance!

The only store I know along your travel route that rents decent mountain bikes would be Gorham bike and fitness in Saco. $250 a week though.

Thanks for the heads up. I may try and hit the Portland area up anyways, so this could be a good option!

I know allspeed in Portland has demo bikes. Not positive on pricing but they have a Santa Cruz Bronson in their demo fleet!

Headed to great moose lake in hartland ? I don't have any info on local bike shops, but I do know the area. My family has a few camps on the upper end of the lake way down near the channel... Past the commodore club. There isn't much for trails directly around the lake unless you feel like riding snowmobile/ ATV trails. ( although smokey's dream cable bridge is quite cool to visit.
I can tell you that if you trek one town over to St. Albans there are lots of cool fire roads that lead out to " Devils head ".
A cool spot to get an overview of the lake.
Black flies are going to be in pretty serious showing this time of year so maybe bring the bug spray. I'm jealous, but we will be up there in August.
    Have fun and stay safe.

    Thanks all!

I'm on the lake here in Hartland. Going to try and get my hands on any two-wheeled transport to explore...

Even though it's not sunny, the weather is fantastic for me! Way better than sweltering Alabama!

If you're in an SUV or something with some decent ground clearance you can always take an exploitation drive through plum creek property and head out to Canaan via browns corner road... Just stay off munn flat road, unless you got a snorkel and 35's under your rig.
Go check out a store named Carols pipes in Canaan for a laugh, or scare lol.
    * edit *
Carols pipes is actually in Skowhegan, just outside Canaan.
