Hello,Do you bike or hike on the trails at the Norwich University’s Shaw Outdoor Recreation Center in Northfield? The old ski hill in Northfield, and a nine-acre surrounding area are slated to be zoned urban-residential rather than Recreation per a vote of Northfield’s Planning Commission. There will be a public hearing on the issue at the Brown Public Library Community Room in Northfield on October 3, 2013 at 7 pm.
E.F. Wall approached the town in May with a site plan for a 10,000 square foot medical office building with parking for 52 cars to house Dr. Craig Sullivan’s practice and a CVMC physical rehabilitation practice. The land would be leased by the owner, Norwich University. The proposed building would
sit at the base of the trails, in the old ski hill area. Now that the zoning is in place, site plan approval will be sought again.
The trails will still be open, although during contruction access could be difficult, and the character of this area will forever be changed. Please consider attending the hearing on October 3rd. Thank you.
If you miss this hearing there will be a subsequent selectboard hearing, posted at Northfield, Vermont: Official Municipal Website. TBA.
