    bike trails near manchester vt.

Hi , girlfriend and I will be staying in Manchester VT. at the Inn at ormsby hill . We ar looking for some trails to ride that are good for all levels . She is a beginner (knows how to ride a bike little to no off road riding) . I would consider myself low intermediate rider(ride frequently , getting better , not afraid to try harder stuff) . would like to find a good spot that will satisfy both of us.

    thanks for the help

You sound like candidates for Pine Hill Park in Rutland.

Pine Hill is close. but I highly recommend Luther State Forest near Saratoga Springs, Ny if you want to drive/ maybe you are going though that way.

Bump. I'll be in Manchester this weekend unexpectedly. What's the terrain at Pine Hill like? Any place else I should check out, or should I just bring the road bike instead?

Pine Hill is geared toward the novice and intermediate, but is fun for all. If you want more challenge and scenic beauty (with trails for all levels, too) you are a 1 hour foliage drive from Ascutney Trails

For a peek at the foliage peak, below Ascutney's peak, you picked a good week.

I'm going to Bromley today on a work trip. Any Beta available for the Manchester VT area? Not trying to out anyone's stash, PM is fine. I know there's stuff there, even a hint of a trailhead would be great. We're not afraid to get lost. Thanks

Yeah dude. Go to Dorset VT, the next town north of Manchester about 5 miles up the road. Park on Church Street on the town green. Ride your bike to the West end of Church Street, go left and about 25 feet on your right will be the Humphrey's trailhead. Ride it and enjoy it. Awesome trail. There are also endless old logging roads up in the hills there that you can literally ride for hours and hours. The local club is building new trails on the other side of town in the Dorset Hollow and has added about a mile I believe, but I am not sure if it is technically open yet. Lots more around there, too, if you do some research or talk to the locals.

I owe you a beer or three. Superb trail. We did Bunker loop both ways and found going right (counterclockwise) was easier climbing and pumpier jumpier descent.

My plug would be for Pine Hill Park - 30 min to the north. Also some solid new singletrack around Southern Vermont College and Mount Anthony in Bennington https://www.facebook.com/batsvt/ Bennington Area Trail System. There's more than what's mapped as well check Strava and Strava heat maps for some of the stuff to the south of the college. Easy to put together a good 10 mile ride.
