yeah, about 40% is glare ice. it must be on the border beacause the rest is bare dirt

no studs required at willowdale

Yeah, that is a nice log ride. I saw the two guys in there building that sometime this fall. I rode both sides a couple weeks back and then hit the natural teeter that is right after as well. Good stuff at LDTF. There is a real nice rock playground in there also with rollers and drops galore.

The riding has been winter epic up here in Franconia, crusty great traction dense snow. Some ice but I am the only one using studs, and I think I have the advantage. Today Cannon got 8 inches of pow and our trails got one inch, so tomorrow ski in the am, ride in the pm. Starting to feel like a Californian!

Can speak for northern mass a bit here. Was at HP on Thursday and it was a bit muddy then. I suspect its a slop fest right now as it absolutely POURED here today. Looking at the temps for the weekend it might be best to wait until the ground refreezes next week

1/29

Bear Brook is good, studs required
Yudicky is good as well 40%ice/slush 60% dirt
Lowell dracut good, bare
HP bare
willowdale bare
russel mill good

looks like south of Manchester is good . Winter rules, if it warms up too much and gets muddy stay off ( dont make ruts )

+1 on LDTF. Rode yesterday, a little muddy in the usual places and a few icy corners but mostly melting ice so it wasn't really slippery. Morning rides would probably be best...

Good to hear about the trails coming back for some riding.

Fomba has been great with studs. 125 and Jenkins side are stellar at HP.

Gotta get some Willowdale soon.

I bet it depends on what time of day you go given the warm daytime temps and below-freezing nights.

Indeed. Braving the cold in the morning will get you better (harder) trail conditions. Doesn't matter as much to me at a place like HP because any slop doesn't really affect an already slow, technical ride. But if I was going to Willowdale I'd try to go when the ground is good and frozen to roll FAST.

But yeah, both are good to go, no snow/ice, no studs required. Just could be a bit muddy depending on the temps.

Yeah...Fort Rock is way icy...I ended up in the cabbage and I was on foot. Studded tires or screw shoes/crampons for sure.

riding willowdale tomorrow at 1. should be cold enough so the ground doesn't thaw except in sunny spots. All are welcome, we don't know the trails at all. We definitely won't be breaking speed records with our 6" plus bikes. I'll post up conditions...

Supposed to be 20ish tonight so Willowdale will be hard and fast for the most part. Enjoy! I'd come out because I'm 10 minutes away and know the trails real well but I've got plans already to ride down in RI tomorrow. Maybe another time. There is a one big drop there for your Mojo too, it's near the Old Right Road corner of the park assuming you've got a DCR map.
