I bought this Terremoto a few years back, and just recently got back into riding (after nearly 2 years off the bike). Here it is with a couple new additions (I swapped the DHX coil for a Monarch RT3 and swapped the old chainguide out for an E13 LG-1 Trail):

Nice, but ¿you don't make long climbs, not you?

It's surprising for me to see a DH chainguide with an air shock! ¿Monarch is standard or pushed? i had a RP23 Boostvalve on my Terremoto and it was a **** (I sold it). Actually, I'm usin a CCDB with a Lyrik 170 DH coil

Apology for the 650b forum re-run...

    El Bastardo – RP-23, semi-custom; 19" ST/22.5"TT, Grinch Green

    White Brothers Loop @ 150mm, 15mm TA
    Crane Creek 100 headset
    Truvative Stylo T30 stem
Race Face SIXC carbon bar/Ergon GA1 grips

    Rase Black Mamba 9" dropper
    WTB Pure V ti

Brakes: XTR Trail (new XTR Ice 185 rotors and XTR composite pads since photo)
    Shifters: SRAM X0
    Crank: XTR FC-M980
    F der: XTR
R der: SRAM XX long cage
    Cassette: SRAM XG 1099 11-36
    Canfield Crampons

    ZTR Flow/DTS 240
    Pacenti NeoMoto set up tubeless

I jumped through a couple hoops (fork, brakes) before arriving at this build, and I think it's a wrap. May dial back the fork to 140mm. Thought I'd ditch the big ring for a guard/guide, but liking it so far and little problem dropping chain.

I can honestly say I've never had more fun going down a trail than on the GreenBeast. Thanks to ed.rides.bikes for the nice price on the used frame.

I'm guessing the setback is 1–1.25 inches (bike's not where I am). I really like certain aspects of the post; all mechanical, stops every 1/2 inch through the range, huge range, can lift bike by seat, trigger takes little effort to activate. My beefs so far: Spring tension could be stronger. It's a little fussy with wanting to be clean and lubed, which the weak-ish spring exacerbates. The adhesive pad on one of the housing guides tore away from the plastic guide, need to fix or get replacement. With all said, the range alone makes it a great pick for trail/AM use, and of course 27.2 availability is a big factor. You do need lots of straight seat tube to run it. It ran neck-and-neck with my Spesh Blacklite (diff bike) until it started getting fussy. Now I'm hedging toward the Blacklite, which works super positively even with a large packed seat bag. The Rase makes me want more range in my BL, though. Guess the ultimate post (for me) still doesn't exist...

    Cheers,

    Mike

My old ventana Pantera will die in a marvelous singletrack. If I could buy a Ventana with elevated chainstays, I'll put it at home like an sculpture. But I'll NEVER use it like a wallmart's bike

I was running a 100mm stem, but after seeing what a lot of others have been saying about the merits of a short stem, I decided to try out the 50mm and I'm liking it a lot. I thought the cockpit would feel really cramped, but it actually feels better on the climbs. I ditched the XC wheels for the 521s. The bike feels much more confident now and downhills are much more fun. There is a weight penalty, but after switching to the shorter stem, it seems the new body position actually is enhanced and I'm still able to put down power to the pedals. Well, I think after 6 months of tinkering...it's fianlly complete. Now...................gotta ride more!

Still Stoked on My El Ciclon!

Two months later, added the following:

--Gravity Dropper (Turbo Model), dropped some grams, replaced the GD "Classic" model
--Got the Fox 32 Talas CTD PUSHED (Factory rebuild, Big Hit re-valving, and TALAS to Float Conversion set at 150mm).
    --AEST Platform Pedals (280 grams)

When I bought the used 2013 Fox 32 TALAS, it had zero movement in the initial stroke, no small bump compliance. After the PUSH re-build, HUGE difference, it was pricey, but worth it in my book.

Totally stoked with this bike (now at 29 lbs), and with the dialed in suspension the bike just went to another level! Now if you all will excuse me, Im going riding!
