    Update:
    <img src="http://gallery.mtbr.com/data/mtbr/500/DSCN7118.JPG">

Christmas and property taxes were not very fun for us this season, so the idea of having enough parts laying around for multiple builds was nixxed. I have moved onto a single build that rapidly can be morphed from heavy xc to light freeride.

    Semi-custom X-5, XL/21" (20"ST, 25.3"TT, 6"HT), HD swingarm, quad bearings, 5/6 rocker
    DHX coil with 600lb spring
Fox 36 TALAS (baby blue decals removed right out of the box )
    Cane Creek headset
    90mm specialized stem
    Salsa 31.8 moto bars
Shimano XT brakes, goodridge line on rear, 180mm formula rotors
    XT M761 cranks, 22/36/bash
    X-gen Fder
    Black Spire Stinger shain guide
    X9 Rder
    X9/XO shifters
AM wheelset onyx hubs, xm321 rims
    2.3 tires specialized resolution tubed
    Gravity Dropper seatpost
    Specialized indie143 saddle
    Shimano 647 platform/clip pedals

Weight as pictured: 35.44lb on alpine digital scale
9.3lb of that is frame and shock (extra beef per my request, insurance on freeride days)
So I have added about 1-3/4lb to the bike from the initial build. The mass can be attributed to 1) Gravity dropper +.4lb, 2) resolution 2.3 tires +.5lb, 3) ditched the ultralight tubes +.25lb, 4) 317 rear rim bumped up to a 321 +.25lb, 5) addition of chain guide +.35lb.

    Future upgrades?
    - Ti spring
    - XO rh shifter
    - floating rotors
    - goodridge line for front hydro
    - easton havoc h-bar

Is there any way that the set-up thread can be "split" into models, in much the same way as it is on the Homer board?

I know we pride ourselves on being "different" than they are, but not every idea they have is completely whack. It might be nice to subdivide the thread for ease of use.

Round 2 of my X-5, after getting stellar Ventana customer service, I got a replacement 04 frame in black. Couldn't leave it at that and replaced a few things. New 06 All Mountain 1 fork, Chris King headseat to match the hubs. The back wheel is now a DT Swiss 5.1D laced to a King hub with DT 14/15 spokes...laced up by Dave Thomas and I am running Conti Vert Pros both front and back. Added Hope skewers and seat post clamp while I was at it...and then figgured, whey not get the X0 rear derailuer.

    Good job! 2007 El Ciclon

21"/19" 2007 Ventana El Ciclon. Semi-custom option, fits like no other bike in some 20 years. Stiffest bike I've ever ridden (period). Did a frame over from a 2003 Chamuco-which was a great bike-and regret not doing this sooner. Climbing is day and night better. Tracking, better. Steering, better. Weight though, it came in 3lbs heavier than the Chamuco. Only difference is the Chamuco had 2.5 WTB's and the El Ciclon has 2.35 Maxxis Invictors. Maybe its the Fox DHX 5.0 (which requires an engineer to set up) Oh well. Small price to pay to be married to the right woman.

Kudos to Sherwood and the crew. Built it Wednesday. Rode it Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, ....

    Spec's:
    King Hubs to Sun Ryno's
    '03 Marz Z150 FR
    '98 XTR 8sp shifter pds
    XTR 12-32 cassette
'01 RF NS Isis DH cranks
    CK Headset
    Azonic 2" risers
    Thomson 120mm stem and seatpost
    Avid BB7's 8" brakes.
    (new) SDG BelAir Saddle

Man...my stuff sounds so dated, I am (gasp) becoming a retro-grouch! LOL!

    Marz. fork 150mm

I noticed that you have a 150mm Marz fork. Can the Ciclon handle a 150mm fork? I thought it was rated only for a 140mm fork. I was thinking about getting the Ciclon but my Marz. Z1 Light ETA is 130-150mm. I only use 150mm when I'm bombing DH.

    I love it. Beautiful build.
Does this mean that as you have just built the exact bike I wanted to build in the near future that I am no longer allowed to build this bike? If I put some I9 wheels on it would it qualify as different enough?
    What's wrong with the SLR's?
    Lets see some riding pics.
