Wanted to give Ventana (Sherwood and Teresa) a shout-out here!
Thank you for making some kick-ass fast (and fun) hardtails. This season I raced a Ventana El Commandante to the overall series championship at the Prairie City Mountain Bike Race Series in the Single Speed Expert Class. My El Comm proved to be reliable and fast throughout the season, and when I did have an issue with the EBB in the middle of the season, the gang at Ventana helped me right out and was able to keep me racing.
Also, a big shout out to Mad Cat Bikes in Sacramento who were my main mechanics for the season and kept everything together as well. 12 weekly races over 3 months puts a lot of abuse on a bike.
Past weekend tripto the Cali North Coast(Redwoods!)
So, yeah, title pretty much sums it all up. Went to the north coast of California this past weekend to escape the heat and road our mountain bikes on SINGLETRACK in an OLD GROWTH REDWOOD FOREST. Pretty dnag impressive to be a tiny little spec scurrying around on the forest floor at the feet of those giant trees. And to boot, we found a waterfall to refresh ourselves in, and to give our bikes a cleaning as well.
Sorry not heavy on the riding shots, but pretty good shots nontheless, me thinks at least.

Sorry dood, it was one of those rides where you just rail the whole thing and only stop to regroup. We were also in and out of the rain and didn't want to waste time session-ing. Although there were a couple places I would have liked to take my time through and really figure out. The last trip up to get the vehicles we could barely see the road the it was raining so hard. Monsoon is in it's prime for central NM.
Damn rain also kept us from hitting Paj. But I would rather miss a day riding for rain than to miss the season because of fire.
Of course, I only have one of me from the baby jumps at Paj, I was hoping to go back and hit the largest ladder in the practice area after lunch, but that was Sunday and the rain caught us in the lot. Alll the more reason to get back up there! Bummer, as there are bigger features I hit here in ATX...
I only got a few pics from the trip, unfortunately...just like you, too much/too fast to stop! Riding
Riding: gettin' lifted (me on the left, Rob on the right)
We are talking about camping in LA for the next set of Pajarito lift days (August 14th & 15th) would be a great photo op to fill this thread
Maybe we could get notaknob to dust off his prefectly new Ciclon... or push him to go bigger ala Bruja
Hmmm...damnit, my company is paying for me to attend a class all day that Friday. I'll look to see where else it is offered, otherwise, I am not so sure of my ability to do 11hrs drive/4sleep/ and ride...but I might be underestimating myself.
