    New 4" travel 650B coming!!
Talked with Teresa today and she said Sherwood is working on a new 650B bike with 4" travel. Looks like I'll be selling my Bastardo 16" frame and White Bros shock to order one. Just gonna wait until they get the final geo numbers and make sure it matches what I want. The Bastardo is a killer bike but mine has 5.5" travel and I live in Michigan and don't need that much travel. Also the curved top tube has really grown on me. Think I am going to set up in either 1 x 9 or the new 1 x 11 setup. Going get the Fox Talas fork to go with it. Pretty excited for the New Year to come to get the final numbers and get one ordered.

Sounds like there's some serious demand for 650B. Interesting how Specialized doesn't have any 650B offerings but Ventana is increasing theirs :)

No name yet. Maybe they should call it Apollo or Artemis!!

Specialized seem to have decided that we all need 29ers or 150+ travel 26ers and then they will select which models your country needs (Being the owner of 2 splesh bikes. I know what I want for my next bike and it aint the big S)

"innovate or die" translates to "wait for it to get popular, then steal it."

Back to Ventana: I hope this is true! I will be keeping an eye on this. Love the wheel size, but not sure I want or need 5.5 - 6" of travel as is the current rage.

Gotta love more options. Maybe a good name would be "El Nino del Bastardo".

Kind of long, but el correcaminos = the roadrunner.

Fits with their Spanish and desert theme and XC bike

Or, continuing with the Monty Python theme, El Alerce.

I'm calling mine El Whatever! I'm more concerned that the new pivot locations performance.......I just hope it's a lot better then the old. I just couldn't get rid of the wallow without running high pressure in the air can. BTW, you can name it whatever you want to....just peel of the sticker and place a new sticker on the top tube. The beauty of Ventana.

They already have 650B Hard Tails..........Aaron and I were the first two purpose built 650B HTs. I've ridding mine since 2010, Ole'

There was never a specific named model, but since it was based on the 26" Chiquillo, it came with that sticker. I call it Chiquo.

70 Degree Head angle, 17" Chainstays and 12" BB. PERFECT singletrack shredder.
I've since switched out drivetrains to newer XT bits and the 12-36 9 speed cluster which nets me within 1% of the gear inches of my 11-34 26" 9 speed.

    Fork
Hopefully Fox will respond with a 100-120mm fork soon.

I have been told that you cannot reduce the 2013 FLOAT 34 to less than 150mm, due to some new internals that do not leave enough space for additional spacers (can't find the thread anymore....). It's obviously possible to reduce the travel to 120mm on the 29er F34 but apparently not more than by 10mm on the 26 and perhaps not on the 27.5" version either...

The ability to change the travel on the X-Fusion forks seems to be very user friendly. I don't have any experience with them though, but they are definitely on my radar.

See pic above of my Chiquo, that fork as quietly been the best performing Fork in my quiver for three years. If I had money to burn, I'd get a Vengeance for the Bruja.

    Just use a 26" fork

I built a 650b hardtail at UBI last February. I'm running a 26" Fox fork with 100mm travel. No problems with bottoming out (tire rubbing the fork arch). I'm running a Neo Moto 2.35.

It bugged me when Fox came out with their 650b forks only in the 140-160mm range...then I got over it when I figured out a 26" fork works just fine.

    I saw that, looks good.

I'm looking at the Slant for my X-5.

White Bros Loop are good for 27.5 and available in any travel you want from 80 to 150. I love mine.

Also been looking to possibly go 650b.

Is this the new bike, it sure seems pretty late model V design.

Zeus | Ventana Mountain Bikes USA

Still on the fence since I don't ride singles much anymore, but planned (dreamed) to go all X fusion front and rear. 37 years of dealing with FOX...I want something different.

Probably won't happen but was wanting to do a day glo flo green with blue hubs, sort of a Factory Kawasaki look.

I hope this is just the beginning for short travel xc 650b's from the small builders - when fox releases a specific fork will be another good sign. Good job Ventana, looking forward it.

No, the Zeus is the 140/160mm trail/am frame. The as yet named new frame will be distinctly "trail" with about 120mm of travel.

I hear Sherwood is working night and day to get that geometry dialed in.......can hardly wait. I thought it was going to be a Ventana Christmas this year....

My gut feeling is if he's building this bike then he already knows a fork is available (or will be) besides the X-Fusion.

FYI..When the 34mm 650B X-Fusion Slant finally becomes available there will be a short travel version that maxes out @ 130mm with adjustability down to 80mm. Internal stanchions are shorter to save some weight.
