Looking for comparo on X5 and Ciclon

After almost 5 years I'm coming off an El Chamuco (I keep my bikes a little longer than FoShizzle), and looking for a new frame. Staying with the big "V" of course.

From those that have spent a good bit of time on both the X5 and Ciclon, how would you compare the two frames in stiffness and ride characteristics?

What are the major differences between the ride in the two frames?

    Thanks

(sorry Fo about the comment, couldn't resist...Although I have graduated from spandex on some of my rides these days, so you'd be proud of me.. )

The difference between the X-5 and the Ciclon is a blur since Sherwood will make any adjusts needed to make both of these frames work for you. The X-5 has a rigid front triangle due to the x-brace but the Ciclon can made as rigid by going with a 2" Diameter downtube. I just did a semi-custom Ciclon where I got a 25.5" top tube lenght along with the 2" Diameter downtube. The front triangle is equal to my old X-5 in rigidity.

Where are you going to find that level of customization? not in a Turner, Santa Cruz or Titus no (unless you buy Titanium). Why because they have very little control over production other than what is specified on the drawings.

If you're overly concerned about stand-over......X5

If you like having a bottle cage.....Ciclon

    I think simple like that.

Ciclon is a bit slacker in the HA. Not sure about the set of the geo.
I figure the odds be fifty-fifty.

For '09 the differences are not as much as in the past.

    Ciclon - 68.3 HA 73.7 ST 13.6 BB

    X-5 68.7 HA 73.0 St. 13.8 BB

So X-5 is slightly steeper geo and with a bit taller BB.

Dare I say, Ciclon = WestCoast X-5=EastCoast? But the differences are not that much.

I've ridden both, liked both. I'd choose an X-5 for better standover and stiffer front tri, I'd choose the Ciclon for traditional front Tri looks, and slightly more DH bias.
