El Ciclón - Grinch Green Machine

I just took delivery on my very first Ventana frame, 19" El Ciclón in Grinch Green.

I am posting some photos that I took of it in the shipping box for your viewing pleasure.

As more parts come in from around the world to outfit this fine beast please come back and look as I will post picture of it until it is all built and ready for action.

This will be my first custom bike and it's gonna be fun setting it up and riding it.

Very good Flingit, it’ll be nice seeing you on a more capable beast. I’ll leave it to you to answer C-Zero’s question. Once you’ve got all your parts, come on over (bringing cold beer of course), and we’ll whip it into shape. You know, its ok if you take it out of the box for some pix! Maybe a “sofa shot”?

    More teaser pics

Ok the frame is out of the box.
My bike building consultant put some "Automotive" type clear protection shielding in areas that might be prone to cable rub, since that is almost non-photographable there are no pictures of that.
We installed the Chris King threadless in "Pewter".
All suspension bolts were re-checked with a torque wrench.
Shimano BB bearings were torqued in and Deore XT crankset installed and torqued.

Now awaiting wheelset - Mavic XM819 disk with "Phil Wood" hubs, seatpost and stem are coming with wheels.

So, although the rest of the machine is on hand, without wheels and stem, it does not make much sense to proceed further at this point.

Wheels are expected within 2 weeks and at that point this unit is going together ASAP.

    Updates soon.

Looking good! Can't wait to see that thing on the trails.

Did your "bike building consultant" (and local Ventana pusher) take those pictures?

Oh and they do offend, considering that is a Cosmic Orange frame!

    Notice the deep contusions.

    Let me guess

who your bike building consultant is......none other than FoShizzle. So did he suggest carbon fibre bars? Please list a full bike build so we can steer you in the right direction. That's a great color....grinch green, army green and battleship ghey are my fav Ventana colors.....grinch green looks even better with a matte clear coat.

Tell the build team that he needs to call off his trip this weekend and get your bike together. And yes, those wheels are gorgeous. Can't wait to see the new ride on the trails.

Build is done! Only need to shorten brake lines (waiting for parts). Flingit will post more pix I'm sure, but I just wanted to get one up!
