    El Chamuco question

I have a size large El Chamuco, the fox float shock is wearing out and I would like to replace it with a romic shock. I found a place that still sells them and I don't know the eye-to-eye length of my shock. If you know this number please send it my way.

    Thanks
    Cedric

For the Chamuco, the shock length is 200mm (7.875") and the stroke is 57mm (2.25"). (I seem to remember Romic spec'ing their shock at 8.0" at one time, but you'll be fine with either 8.0 or 7.875.)

I have a Romic shock ( 7.875 x 2.25 ) that has never been used.....I replaced it with a PUSHed Vanilla RC on my 1st generation La Bruja before it was built up and never looked back ! My experience with a Romic shock was not so good on another bike ....the shock lasted three rides before spewing oil all over and rendering it useless ! However, Romic did rebuild it at no cost and the shock performed well to when I sold the bike about 6 months later ! TIG.

Update: I have the right length on the romic shock. I need to know what size spring should I use. 300lb, 400lb, 500lb? will fox springs work on a romic shock?

    thanks ,

I weigh around 190lb-195lb. I usually wear a medium size camelbak, that probabley adds another 10-20lbs.

    hope that helps.

    thanks,

I weigh about 155lb and was using a 450lb spring on my El Chamuco with the Romic. Fox springs do not fit as they have a different diameter and won't fit in the spring seats. I still have my old Romic with both 450 and 500lb springs. If you want it I'll let it go dirt cheap. PM me if you have any interest.

Yeah, I'd say run the 500. 550 would be better, but not sure what increments Romic made theirs.

    ~200# (you n kit) x 2.6 leverage ratio~ 520.
