    Deals on Ventanas @ CC

    http://www.competitivecyclist.com/fr...clon-3678.html

amongst others. any irresponsible speculation on the rationale of such deep discounts?

Probably has to do with a mix-up between plurality and possession.
Since when did Need have anything to do with this?

It could only mean one of two things. CC is no longer a Ventana dealer or 2011 holds some BIG changes in the Ventana lineup. Would their be any reason to sell of inventory otherwise? Since Ventana really doesn't do the model year thing then holdover inventory would not be an issue. Maybe someone in the know will chim in.

I ordered an El Ciclon from them when they first went on sale last week. They gave me an expected ship date of 11/19. This makes me think that they do not have it in stock and that the discount may be coming from Ventana. Sounds like your option #2 is probably correct.

The punctuation error in the title has been corrected; my apologies to the Grammar Police.

This is really going to drive down the price of used frames...

Nothing new in this economy.....the Feds have driven down the value of the dollar. I just moved from the lower middle class to the working poor.

But I would like to know what's cooking over at HQ's.........I'm not going to speculate but I have my fingers crossed.

    Rare Blowout Pricing on Ventanas

this is the bargain thread from last year. just two weeks earlier. seems to be a good time for a blow out and that the big v is running it every year. last year's big band was the sliding dropouts and the belt drive. i just love ventana's small changes policiy - your bike's never out of date

Tapered head tubes since all the fork mfg's seem to be headed in that direction?

30.9 seatpost? I wish my bike had one. My seat tube tapers down at the top to make it 27.2, Is this on all the bikes or because of my 23' frame size?

    Maybe CC needs cash.
    Maybe Ventana needs cash.

I would think if the split pivot falls under the ABP patent. DW would have to give up his design or provide a royalty to TREK. Similar to what DT did with the HL design. Will be interesting to see how this progresses and what other manufactures end having to do or redo for some. Devnci is also a SP design. I don't know that TREK and SP have issues. Just commenting on there could be an infringement issue. From an untrained eye like mine. ABP & SP sure look a lot alike.

Still I would not mind seeing a 120 mm 69 degree SP El Rey.

DW was awarded the Split Pivot patent, Trek was awarded the ABP patent, they are similar but different enough.

So what I have heard Devinci, Morewood, Moondraker (German brand), Spooky and Seven are using the Split Pivot. To me I think Ventana is going through a small evolution like tapered headtubes. but that being said, I agree, a SP Ventana would be sweet.

All this Split Pivot talk is funny, we've had this discussion before. And I agree, it would be VERY interesting to see it done. BUT, and it's the same BUT from the last time. SP are difficult to make as stiff laterally as the current design given the confined space to work with. And we all know that Sherwood won't comprimise on the principles that Ventana's are built on. And Lateral stiffness is a biggie to him.

Well, it is rather poignant to think about, especially if you own a Ciclon. But given the fact that my current Ventana is about about as much of Ciclon as it is a Bruha or Cuervo...

I foresee new product from Ventana. Which is great. The drama you guys are building here has my salivating and day dreaming of "what may come".

it would be cool if Ventana came out with some rockers that had better tire clearance. Or even just a new chainstay yoke assembly (or whatever it is called)

    30.9 seatpost
ISCG tabs/pivot bolt config that aren't incompatable
    More rear tire clearance.

Oh, but keep the great ride quality, stiffness, beautiful craftsmanship/fit/finish, paint...those things that define the V.

LOL! You all are funny. And don't know the Ventana History.

Sherwood HAS made his own Molds, and HAS produced Carbon products. Namely a carbon Road fork back in the EARLY 90's. Been there, done that. And rest most assured not going back there. **** Warning, Personal Opinion coming up**** In the market that Ventana deals in, Carbon is for people willing to pay top boutique dollars for Taiwanese made products.

Yeah, that fork was cool looking very Kestrel like but a fork is not a frame. Anyway, carbon frames are silly......one crash can trash a $3K frame. I would like to see a new pivot system and swoopy rockers.

Thanks for validating my point, CG. I didn't say he hasn't or wouldn't do it. Just that he wouldn't do it unless he did it his way. I'm not at all surprised that he's gone down that road already.
