    Custom geo cost?

Does anyone know how much extra it would cost to have a custom headtube angle on a Ventana?
    I'm after a 1 degree slacker headangle on an El Terremoto frame ( i want 66.5 degree with a 545 a-c fork)
I've tried emailing Ventana but i dont think my emails are getting through.

don't quote me but, i believe in order to do that they would cut off the head tube, strip the paint, reweld after some more cutting or whatever to get the tubes to line up for the angle change, heat treat the entire frame, repaint unless you were looking to save money & end up w/ a raw look. i recently had a whole lot more done to an '01 La Bruja w/ new parts included & the toal cost was $600. worth every cent. if you read their site i think that if you customize a frame in the original build stage it's about $150 per change or something like that. that should give you some idea, maybe.

That a $150 upcharge (over the standard price of the frame) is for a semi-custom (i.e. changing the seat tube or top tube length on an otherwise stock frame like combining an 18" seat tube with the longer top tube spec. of a 20" frame on my El Comandante) build. I'm sure changing the head tube angle would be a full custom upcharge, likely at least a $300 upcharge or more. I guarantee if you call Ventana you'll get a warm human on the phone and a real-time answer.

    There's three levels of semi-custom:
Level 1: simple change, like a frame built around a fork, or a different size top tube
Level 2: multiple changes, like a frame built around a fork, an X-brace for a shorter top tube, a lower BB, and small frame that takes 6" rockers (this is what I did with El Tigre.. it was a level 2)
Level 3: full custom, which probably means you should take a trip to Ventana if you're going this far

I'm not sure what the pricing scheme is, because that may change over time. My vague relocation is (and don't quote me on this) for the cost: level 1, $200ish, level 2, $350ish, level 3, $700ish.

Paulimon has had his own 42" plasma screen installed at the factory just to save his eyesight. I dont think it has done his repetitve strain injury much good though.

    Just to clarify...

LOWER top tube. X-Brace or straight the length is determined by fit not configuration.

I have considered a custom Ventana since I left the family. It would not be too much since I'd prob just want a longer TT. I bet something like that would be no more than $200 or so. I'm very happy with my other bike but but a custom TT Padrino or Salty is never too far from my mind

Let us know what you end up doing.

You know, I didn't get any "extra" packing (there's a funny word) material with my El Padrino, I assume it was because Paulie was looking out for me . . . .
