Can you tell me about/identify this Ventana El Chiquillo

Here is a Ventana El Chiquillo I got the other day. Picture is attached.

It has serial # 97G595V stamped on the bottom of it. It has a toptube length of 22.5 and a seattube length of about 18.5

How old is it ? It does not have disc mount tabs and unlike newer Ventanas, it has the loop tail stays.

I am thinking of having it beadblasted and powdercoated gray.

Is it a good ride? worth restoring? I know about Ventanas a bit and vintage mountain bikes but don't know much about this ride.

    Thanks

Wow thanks- That explains it- mine is the 18 inch one.

Looks pretty good- probably worth keeping then? I think I like Ventanas older frames even better than their new ones.

I'm going to have it stripped and then powdercoated gray

Does anyone else have a Ventana hardtail from this era?? How does it ride? What kind of ride can I expect? I've never ridden one before? Is it worth building up?

It's a 6061 hardtail, and will ride like one, fast & nimble, ripping through turns at mach 2.. just takes some advil to rememdy the pain in your lower back after 20+ mile rides, unless you just ride smooth buff trails.

All I know is... there were rumors, he was into field hockey players.

But seriously, my two Ventana HTs are the best handling bikes I've ever ridden. They do not beat me up in the slightest.

I can't recommend them enough. As far as the older ones, IDK. If you have the parts, build it up and see for yourself. A bunch of internet hacks have nothing to do with your actual riding experience.
