Am I happy with my recent purchase?
    Yes... I ... am!

Re-joining the Ventana club after a 4 1/2 year hiatus with a new-to-me El Rey.

Really liking the new suspension - it is a much better fit for my trails / riding style. I had not realized how much I missed a STIFF Ventana frame until I got back on one. Wow! Glad to be back.

    Some build details:
El Rey size large, 142x12 rear dropouts
2013 Fox F29 Talas CTD, 15 QR tapered steerer
XO cranks & type 2 derailleur
    XX 10-speed shifter
    XX cassette 12-36
XTR M988 trail brakes w/ Formula rotors
Specialized Roval Control SL carbon wheels
    Specialized The Captain 2.0 tires
    Thomson stem & post
    Ergon SM3 saddle
    Niner flat top 9 bar
    Cane Creek 110 headset
    RWC PF30 BB
    Time ATAC pedals
    Oury grips

Build ended up around 26.4 lbs. I was hoping for 26 even, but close enough.

Black Thomson stem should arrive soon to replace the silver one I dug out of the parts box.

I will ditch the 2-ring spider and change to a spiderless front ring as soon as I can find one made for a BB 30 chainline. (Supposedly North Shore Billet will have these soon.) Or maybe a XX1 crank and/or spider if I can find a good deal on one.

The only other upgrade I forsee someday in the future involves the Ventana refurb program and some Grinch Green paint...:cool:

Beautiful build! How do you like the 120mm TALAS on the El Rey?

I thought I would mainly ride with the fork set at 100, but I have been liking the 120 setting so much that I have yet to try it at 100. The Rey feels really natural and handles surprisingly well with a 120mm fork. Even on the tight, twisty trails that I ride > 90% of the time.

In general, the 2012 / 2013 fox forks have been some of the best I have ridden - highly recommend them.
