Adjusting PSI in El Rey rear shock?

I'm sure this a fairly stupid question but one I'm not finding a straight-forward answer too...

I picked up a used (2007) El Rey frame. This is my first experience with a FS bike as well as 29er. I have it built to the point that I'm making finer adjustments, including suspension sag. The rear shock is a Fox Float RP23 and the schrader valve for adjusting the pressure is blocked by an arm of the link. I can't even get the dust cap off. Is there a trick to gaining access to the valve or do I have to disconnect the shock from the lower mounting point and swing it up?

    Thanks for any help!

The recommendation of the Gonzo valve is a really good one for those Generation frames.
