An Addition to my Ventana Family..double trouble!

Now that my kids are getting old enough to join me on rides (8 and 5), and the planets aligned just so, I was able to pick up a new family ride!

Introducing our Conquistador de Montañas aka Orange Crush!® (® - Iris1006)

Frame: 2010 Full Custom 19" Captain, 16" Stoker
Note the Double Taco, dropped Toptube design, Sherwood designed it to maximize standover for both Captain and Stoker, as both my wife and I will See Captain duty.
    With Fox RP23, 4" Rockers.

Parts are mostly from the recycle bin, notable the sweet old School Hershey Tandem Crankset (Thanks to the guy who John Hancocked my bike).

    Fork: Marzocchi Dropoff-1 130mm
    Shifters: SRAM Attack 8 speed.
    Cranks: Hershey Tandem
ChainRings : ONZA Buzz Saw Timing Rings. Suntour and Vuelta Chainrings. (46-36-24)
    Cogset: 12-32 8speed.
Wheelset : D521 Mavic laced to XT Rear Hub and Hugii Front (Original wheelset on my 2001 Bruja! Much credit is due to Myke (Internal14) for the incredible stout build up! This is the 3rd bike these wheels will be seeing duty on!
    Tires: WTB Stout 2.3
Brakes: BB7 with 203mm Rotors front and rear. (And Officially Tandem Rated, much cred to Avid for having the guts to label them as such).
    Der. Front: Shimano SLX
Der, Rear: Shimano SLX Shadow - I was impressed with the ease of setup, First time buying a new Shimano Der. in about 4 years.

47lbs as is with the tank pedals. It's incredible BIG, Not just cause of the huge front fork but the length takes quite a bit of getting used to, you need to setup ALL your turns, but at the same time, It's easier to ride than a single bike with the 1/2 bike attached. Kids think it's crazy, but are having fun so far. We'll see how it goes once we get real dirt under the tires!

    OLE!

    I like it.

But I wonder how efficiently it pedals ?
I only ride bikes to fill the time when I'm not skiing.

    Welcome to the Tandem side!

    Aaron,

Nice! And a great color too! Same as our 2005 version. Maybe after some time on it, you'll come out to some of the races that have a tandem class. Since racing ours, we've had more promoters open a tandem class for us and usually get 3 tandems racing. We just go out and have fun. Come out and play!

    Enjoy!

Thanks L8, Racing?! Maybe once my daughter gets on board (the 5 year old) I'll be happy to get my boy to do some dirt. He's WAY too conservative (self preservation gene is strong with that one!) so I'll take any ride with him that's he's comfortable with.

I'm guessing about 200% ineffecieny based on the Pedals to rear wheel ratio. And 1000% more fun.

Scooting around the neighborhood has been a blast.

Nice rig fanboy! Why not one of those newer colors, battleship gray, army green, or cosmic yellow?

    Cuz Battleship gray is boring!

    Family Choice.

Todd - Either from his mom, or my daughter has a wire loose like me.

Funky looking homes behind ya there. Kind of Amsterdam-like. Where is that?

Love the bike. I want one! Is the signature sticker special to you or is that a standard on the tamdem?

Phish/Salt - The homes are infill type development in the City of Rancho Cordova, Right across the street from my work. The Center area has the funky colored, two and three level townhomes. All surrounding a central park. The entire development sits inside a business park area, so the idea was a super short commute to work.

The sticker - Ha! Don't you wish you had one! Ok, just kidding, it's a signature sticker.
It's Sherwood's Signature, with "Designed by Sherwood Gibson" underneath.

I believe it's available to all, just need to ask Teresa about it. Rebel 66 got one first, and since I can't let him one up me, I had to get one too!

You inspired me to make mine trail worthy again. My son is 9 1/2, we'll see how it goes.

Awesome. I want to find one of these used as my eldest is nearing 6 and wants to get out on the trails.
