2010 El Terremoto chain guide recommendations

    Hi,

I am after any experiences anyone has had to gather recommendations for the best chain guide for the 2010 El Terremoto.

I am currently using a 3 * 9 set up. I am riding all mountain on it and I'm about to sign up for a series of all mountain races. Don't want to be wasting any time getting the chain back on mid race.

I took the bike, set up like this, to some lifted trails last summer and the chain was dropping off a bit on the rough stuff.

I am thinking of running 2 rings and a bash guard.

    Any help appreciated.

Blackspire stinger worked well on my El Terremoto with SLX cranks - 2 rings and a bash

Thanks Marcus. I'll give the Sringer a go.

Can anyone verify, is the El Terremoto ISCG05? Checked the Ventana website and couldn't find the info.

ISCG05 was the standard that V used.

Just like the shock hardware advice a few weeks back, this information is also wrong.

My Terremoto most definitely has ISCG OLD not ISCG05.

Only bumping this thread to clarify so no one else makes the same mistake I did by doing any "research" here and ordering the wrong thing (again).

If it changed to ISCG05 it was after the 2009 "model year".

I've had good luck with stuff from The Hive. I'm currently using their single ring seat tube mounted guide (even though I spent the dough to have a BB mount added) for a bashless 36t X 9spd set up on my '10 Ciclon with no thrown chains.

The Title of the ORIGINAL POST says, 2010 Teremoto. And YES the 2010 uses ISCG05 Standard. It changed right around Mid/summer 2009, so that El T could be used with SRAMs Hammerschmeidt which requires ISCG05.

ISCG05 worked fine on my 2010 as Marcus and Ciclisagonzo specified. I had to cut a chunk out of the Stinger to clear the end of the main pivot. It didn't effect the performance. Fitting was pretty straight forward for a first timer. Like I said, I needed a hacksaw to cut a chunk out of the guide and I think I moved the bottom bracket spacers across to the drive side for clearance.
