    Thule 699 packing advice

I have a Thule 699 case that I will use to travel with my bike to the BC Bike race. My bike is a Scott Genius 40 and I would appreciate any advice to properly pack it into the Thule 699

    Thanks

THere are videos on YouTube that show just that. I very recently bought a Nashbar/Thule 609 case, same as 699 except for some bags that aren't included with mine.

I watched several videos, and have already done a dry run breaking down and packing my bike in the case. I am taking a trip to Utah in late August.

I have to remove the bars, remove the air from the fork and compress with zip ties, and remove the rear derailleur with hanger , pedals, seatpost. That's it.

Also you MUST remove your disc rotors if you have disc brakes. They can be easily bent during shipping if you leave them on the wheels. Sandwich them in cardboard in the middle of the case.

Pack all the loose stuff in zip lock quart bags (pedals, skewers, bolts ).

    Thanks for the ideas.

I also saw the videos but there were 2 for road bikes and one for a downhill one. I was looking for other ideas for a trail bike, such as the one I have.
I used the zip ties for the fork, which I also had to deflate for it to fit into the box. An besides all the items you mention that have to be removed, I also did with the front calliper to protect it a bit more.

Sorry for the low quality cell photo.
