    Switzerland Bound!!

    Hello,

I am heading to Zurich, Switzerland at the end of May to visit a friend. I will be there 4-5 days and am looking to do some riding while there. I would like to do some All Mountain riding and if possible maybe a day of downhill. I looked into Champery but it looks like it doesn't open until the middle of June. Plus it is like a 3.5 hour ride down there from Zurich. Can anyone recommend a closer place to Zurich that is open to go downhilling? Also any recommendations to ride in the area that isn't downhill will be greatly appreciated.

What about bike rentals? I really don't want to bring my bike for just a day of riding.

    Thanks for helping!

My bro in law lives in Zurich, I will ask him. He mostly does downhill, AM riding. How tall are you and where in Zurich?

He's mentioned trails around Lake Zurich, that have a lot of trail features, but I haven't been on them. I've only done road and some bike park stuff along the streams in Bulach.

Check out uetliberg zurich bike track. Also a big new pumptrack in zurich. My buddy lives next to Zurich and has a friend that runs a bikeshop, i will check his website for you and post it. They are cool guys who might be able to hook you up with a bike and some trail tips.

I was over there last year during May and visited the small resort town of Engelberg the one day. We saw quite a few mountain bikers. Seems like they have a mix of XC, all mountain and downhill trails. Google Maps indicates that it is just over an hour from Zurich but I would think maybe 1.5 hours. Unbelievably beautiful drive. (Note: The Swiss are sticklers for rules so driving there can be a tad stressful.) Engelberg is surrounded by mountains so of course you'd have to check on conditions. Have fun!
