    Riding in Morzine/Chatel (France)

We will spend our holidays in Morzine and Chatel and we would like to know the best cross-country trails around there. We will do downhill but we would also bring our AM bikes. Do you know how can we find the best trails? Is it a good idea to hire a guide or could you tell us another cheaper (and safe) alternative? We'll be there at the end of August for 7 days. It would be nice to join a group of another riders too.

    Thank's a lot!

    XC in Morzine

Where are you going to be based?
If you are around the Morzine area then the route map has some XC marked on it. I would suggest the Chapel run in Les Gets marked as a black XC - a few early hills then amazing quiet forrest trails, rooty descents and techy rocky single track, a river crossing then a steep tech descent into the back end of Les Gets.
Also the route around Mount Chery is OK.

If you are feeling up to it do the Col de Coux from the Swiss side and either descend into Morzine or follow the walkers trail along the ridge into Champery.

Why not down load the passportes route - 70 - 90 km lift assisted XC to take in all of the area - a great day out NB the Chaux de Roses chair is not open so you will have to peddle up the green winter piste to follow this years route.

    Have fun

ps first post here so hello to everyone!!
