There is great riding in the N. Garda area. Most involve pretty intense climbs to start as it is a steep valley.Several shuttle services can make it easier.
Much of the bike action is just down the road in Torbole - two shops with good quality rental gear, guides and shuttles. Mecki is adjacent to the Sarca bridge, a 10 -15 min walk from the yacht harbor in Riva. The other is 150m further toward central Torbole.
Can also be decent windsurfing and the food is terrific.

A hint for the Garda area- you can bring your bikes onto the ferry that works it way around the lake. This can beat driving, and certain beats trying to ride along the very narrow lake road.

Check out this post from 2007. Scroll down and you will find a description of the Tremaltzo loop we rode from town.
