Any spectacular rides between Rossland B.C. and Grand Junction CO???

    Hi there

In September we'll spend again our 3 weeks holidays over here, after we had such a great time last year, thanks to the many suggestions for "best riding" we got. Thanks again!!

Now we will ride for a week in B.C. (Squamish,Whistler), and the last week is reserved for Colorado. But on the way from Rossland (where we may visit someone) to Colorado (Fruita, CB, & otheres) we don't have any plans & ideas yet. Here my question: Is there any riding, where it would be a shame just to pass throu without stopping?
Our estimated route will pass by Spokane WA, Missoula MO, Butte MO , Idhoe Falls, SLC UT, Grand Junction CO.
We're intermediate riders and we like to do long & epic rides, which are remote and has beautiful scenery etc. (like our favourites last time Porucpine Rim, Cannel Trail/Kernriver, Warm Springs, Ketchum). We're not so interested in Bikeparks and small Trailsystems. If we need to make a big detour from our route it would be great if there would be more than 1 cool trail to ride.

Does anyone of you has any suggestions? That would be a great help planing the 2nd. week of our vacation.
best regards & greetings from switzerland

    Riding between BC and GJ

As you pass through the Salt Lake City area, considering spending a day in Park City. A great ride from there would be to combine Mid-Mountain trail with the Wasatch Crest trail. You can pick up an area map at a local bike shop when you arrive, or at Park City Roasters (coffee shop) at Kimball Junction if you arrive to town or are ready to ride before the bike shops open.

General ride description: park at Park City Resort's main lot, head to a trail called Spiro, and climb, climb, climb up the resort until you reach Guardsman Pass/Puke Hill which you then climb to the Wastach Crest trail (top elevation just below 10,000ft). You follow this trail along a ridge line with awesome views for about 7-8miles before dropping into the Canyons ski resort to pick up Mid-Mountain. You then follow M.M. (undulating single track at ~8000ft elevation) across the Canyons resort property and finally back to Spiro trail on the neighboring PCMR property. Overall, roughly 30miles and 4000ft of climbing or so-a good portion of that is in the initial climb up to the Crest trail. The website www.utahmountainbiking.com can be helpful in researching this and other Utah rides. Happy Trails

If taking I-90 east you'd pass thru St Regis before Missoula (big MTB town). Clark Fork River Trail #223 is 9 miles long, ridden as a out-and-back ride thru a sweet canyon and riding the canyon walls. You'll hear the river, an occasional train across the river and the birds.
Then you cold take in some Yellowstone and head to Jackson Hole for local trails. Cliff Creek Falls is singletrack.

Stanley and Sun Valley Idaho are worth a visit and a scenic detour from your proposed route. Buff trails and wide open spaces! September would be a great time to ride there.

    Hi Claudio,

I have heard there is great riding in the area around Driggs, Idaho and Jackson Hole Wyoming. There certainly is beautiful scenery, and the area is not very far from Idaho Falls. There is a shop in Driggs called Peaked Sports. You might try posting in the Idaho and Wyoming forums or searching there.

I'll second the recommendation for Park City / Salt Lake City. Francois, the owner of this site, posted great photos from there, and the mountains are very beautiful.

    Hi folks

Thanks so far for your recommendations. Park City we had on our list, but we thought that the scenery might be very close to the one in Colorado, but we still think about passing by.

Sun Valley we already know, and we love it. It was very beautiful and we would love to go again, on the other hand we think that there are many other great rides to discover.

Thanks for the Driggs advice. Somewhere before I heard this name again and I'll try to find more about it.

Hope to hear even more & thanks so far

    Hi there

Thanks so for for your answers. Suddenly it's not so clear if we can make our trip because we got cheated by an non existing rv rental. Because last year everything went simliar we were not suspiccous at all, and now, we just lost 2500
So, we'll see if we can manage to organize again some money for rv or car.
Included here the warning: Attention: never book with motorhmereservation.com, all fake but indeed not bad work. Detailed floorplans, friendly answers to all questions, just till you have to pre pay the rental amount, then silence.....

Ok, didn't want to bother you, just very frustrated right now, especially because i never made bad expericenes up to now. Call me naive!!!

    regards Claudio
