    Thunder Mountain Trail now?

I'm going to be riding around Virgin in a week and then headed to Fruita and Moab on a 3 week MTB road trip. (Yeh, I'm hyped cause I have a new Yeti SB95 to play with!)

Anyone have a clue what conditions are like now at the higher elevations on T Mtn? Normally it is way too early but they are biking Tahoe now so anything goes this year.

Also, is there any place in that area that would have current info. I normally stay in a cabin at Harold's Place but they know nothing of trails.

My old XC bike was pretty good on T Mtn but I suspect my Yeti all mountain will be more fun.

Thanks OMZ. A couple of weeks ago there was a little snow on the ground. Not sure how that translates to the T Mtn trail. Certainly no large drifts to deal with but could be several inches in the shadows. After 20 years of living in the North I don't do snow and ice anymore :-)

I was just in Cedar City and even the breaks were almost clear of snow. I bet Thunder Mountain is clear except for a few of the shaded spots.

Thunder has a couple of miles of clay soil that is VERY sticky when wet. Even if there is no snow, it may not be rideable.

Definitely not rideable right now. They just got a bunch of snow.

The weather turned cold and wet in south UT so I canceled my trip. I heard a day or two ago that Gooseberry, etc had snow. Not my thing anymore.

We have great riding with drought weather here in California so I'll head to UT when the weather improves and the trails are in good shape. They are riding the big trails at Tahoe now! Dirt is the new snow.

I rode T Mtn years ago in April and the equestrians left big holes in the upper trail. I didn't see significant damage from MTB but the horses trashed the trail. All of us need to leave the trail alone until it is ready for us.
