    Melt?

With the recent "warm" weather, how are the following trails looking for Prez Day Weekend?
    Sovereign, Amasa Back, Porc Rim?

Just got back from Moab today and have some beta:

Spoke with local riders and heard Sovereign is extremely muddy/unrideable. But if the weather holds... maybe? EDIT: CRD says it's a go as of Monday.
    Amasa Back is good.
    Porcupine Rim... are you kidding?

Hope I can score my pancakes at Willow Springs..

Sounds like it might be rough Pres. WKD for the Sov Pancake ride!

yeah Amasa and Slickrock are a go, Seth. Sovereign is good now, but may get wrecked by any rain/snow on Thursday. we'll see. any riding is better than no riding here.

I attempted Sovereign on Saturday. Got about a mile in and turned back. Snowy, and where it wasnt snowy, too soft. Borderline muddy, but way too soft. Amasa was fantastic on Saturday. Chile trails, Slickrock and Porc are all good. Have fun. I will be in St. George riding too.

how the hell can Porc be good this early? unless you mean the lowest section near the River. i'm banking on riding Amasa and/or Slickrock. Sovereign would be a huge bonus, and maybe a pleasant surprise. crossing my fingers that they don't get much precip tonight/tomorrow. Friday's sun looks to allow some more drying.

I agree. I haven't ridden in Moab since 1996, but when we were riding Easter weekend in 1994, there was still snow in shady sections on Porc Rim on the ride up from the Sand Flats entrance.

Sorry - should have been more clear. I was referring to the lower section of Porc, per the info I received from the bike shops down there that weekend. I, however, did not go ride it, opting for Amasa after Sovereign instead.

I look forward to a more recent update after this weekend.
