    Hurt in the Dirt

Anyone here done the Hurt in the Dirt race in Ogden?

Hurt in the Dirt - GOAL Foundation - Get Out and Live

I am thinking about doing it, just curious if anyone has 1st hand experience they would care to share.

    Thanks!

Did it last year and really liked it. Well organized. Can't decide if I'll do it again this year. I might pass up Hurt in the Dirt and do the night time cross race instead.

The run is fun, the bike is a bit boring and not exactly a real mtn bike though. I think that's what they want though to get more people doing it.

    Thanks!

Glad to hear it was fun. Just curious about the 3.5 hr cutoff time, were you close, or did you have plenty of time?

That is my only concern. I can run 8 miles, I can ride 20 miles, but not sure about doing it all together with obstacles thrown in!

Either way I am going for it, it would just suck to DNF!

I will spend the summer training, so that is not an issue.

Did it last year as a relay team. I did the bike portion. Definitely not the funnest bike course out there but pretty challenging. I could see a cross bike doing just as well as an xc bike. Everyone that I know that did the run liked it and didn't find it to be overly challenging but the main thing to watch out for is the heat that day. Last year it was really hot and humid so be sure to hydrate accordingly and keep your nutrition up. Going to do it again this year with my girlfriend.
