Durango to Moab via San Juan Huts -- Snow Check

    Hey all,

A group of us from Northern California are heading out your way this summer to ride Durango to Moab hut to hut. We're trying to nail down the dates right now.

I've heard there's been copious amounts of snow this year and I know the trip goes pretty high (11,000 feet or so). Any sense as to when the trails should be clear of snow?

The Durango area is where you're most likely to run into trouble. I'd be weary of any trip that high before July.

Agreed. I rode CT from Coal Bank pass on July 4th, 1997 (the last comparable snow year to this year) and saw barely a patch. By July you should be fine.

    My brother

And I are also doing that route. We set our date for the 3rd week in august just to be safe. There has gotta be a crapload of snow up there right now!
