    2014 FAT BIKE SUMMIT-Ogden, UT

Fat Bike Summit-January 24-25th, 2014 in Ogden, UT.

"The 3rd Annual Global Fat Bike Summit will take place over 2 days in Ogden, UT. The event brings together dealers, consumers, land managers, fat bike manufacturers and media representatives to promote fat bikesí low environmental impact, seek access to lands currently off limits to bikes, and explores the potential for local economic growth opportunity such access can bring.

The two-day event, co-sponsored by Quality Bicycle Products and Ogden City, combines educational seminars, a fat bike expo, a festival, and a race. The first day will consist of educational seminars focused on fat bikesí uniquely low environmental impact and the revenue potential generated by allowing fat bikes access to public lands. Day two presents the festival and expo, with hands-on opportunities for guests to learn more about the bikes by riding them and talking with representatives from various fat bike brands. Races for both advanced and beginner fat bike riders will be included."

I'm planning on doing a 175 mile route in northern utah on snowmobile groomed trails this winter and I was wondering how much interest there would be in building this into a group event / race.

The route is all on groomed snowmobile trails (forest service roads). There would a ~125 mile option with no road crossings and a 175 mile option with one road crossing. The route is ~80% original with about 20% of the trail ridden twice (think lollipop). The kicker is that the course is generally from 7,000' to 9,000' in elevation with tens of thousands of feet of climbing.

This would be an unsupported, unofficial 'group ride' - this year anyway. There would be five or six potential cache points. Probably early March.

I also listed this in the 'Fat Bike' forum with a poll with the following options:

    a. Sign me up for anytime.
    b. Sign me up for a weekend.
    c. >50% yes, anytime.
    d. >50% yes, weekend.
    e. You are crazy.

please fill out the poll there to let me know if you are interested.

If there is enough interest (~20 people) i think we can easily arrange caches and warming huts (yurts or hotel).
