newb Q cranks for 1x9 set up

im looking to build a 1x9 urban jib bike, im too old and fat to get into dirt jumping but want something to cruise around and wheelie and maybe jib off stuff or drop a loading dock here or there..

so ive been looking at frames cranks wheel sets and forks..

it seems liek the single speed cranks with a bash guard are pricy but there a re a bunch of DH cranks on sale that have two chain rings, is it possible to just get one of those and take off the small ring and put a chain guide on?

as for frames anyone know anyhting about the sette shadow frame or possible suggest another frame that goes for under 175? KHS dj?

for the fork should i look for a 20mm axel fork? i was figuring something around 100mm travel, but trying to keep the cost below 300..

    wheel set suggestions?

    bb5 or bb7?

BB7's for sure, much easier to dial them in than 5's IMO, but 5's work great too, don't get me wrong. If you are "fat" as you say, it may be worth it to go with a 20mm fork, as it will be a lot less flexy. Converting dh cranks to a single chainring works exactly the way you mentionned it, just take the granny off, keep the big ring and the bashguard.
