# Thread: Last night's urban ride...

1. ## Last night's urban ride...

I had a great time, went with 3 of my skateboarder friends and we were hitting the same stuff and having some fun.

Then, in the parking lot of a movie theater near my house, I saw something I had attempted before, but never suceeded in doing.

It is a sidewalk, there for no reason but to slow down traffic. It is about 8'' high, and about 3 feet wide. And it has a nice slope to jump off of. Thing is, it is just over 3 bike lengths(120inches, or 10 feet). I usually would hit it and end up landing about 2/3 of the way there, so a nice little landing to flat.

I then decided I'd nail it, an 8inch jump with a 10 foot "gap". I pedaled faster than I usually would have, and boosted it as much as I could, and I nailed it!

Weee!

I'll try and post a pic of it when I can.

2. Pics to prove it! We want to see this mythical beast which ye hath slayed!

3. Here it is, but I was alone so I could not take a pic of me clearing it, would've loved to though. My bike (26inch norco 416) is right beside it to give you and idea of length and height of it.

4. If that's 10ft, then I just caught a 100lb trout

5. How much is it then? My bike has a 40inch wheelbase, 3*40 = 120, 120inches= 10 feet. Am I getting my math wrong here?

6. If anything to me that looks a little longer than 10 feet lol, sweet stuff.

7. Looks like it's at least 15 feet.

8. You guys make me want to ride the 10 minutes it takes to get there and pull out a tape measure.and photograph it.

9. hahah that would be sweet if you actually did that

10. yeah, nice eye for a quick line, but it does look longer than 10ft to me too. maybe you are just simply getting wheelbase mixed up with complete bike length??? haha, I don't know if I'd have the gearing to build up speed to clear that. props to you, post up some pics if you get a chance...

11. I'll try and attempt it while getting filmed during the weekend, but rain is forecast until monday I think .

12. Nice job, thats a decent sized "gap" to clear off such a short jump.

13. You've gotta boost like a mofo, think bunny hop onto a picnic table.

That is the tallest stop sign I've ever seen. You should try to bunny hop that muther.

15. its possible.
no doubt it my mind,
it looks like a fun little manual pad to practice on

You got the wrong math man, wheelbase = front axle to rear axle. Add 26" (13" for half front and rear wheel each) and you'll get a bike lenth of 66".
66" * 3 = 198" = 16.5 feet.
That's a long jump.

Yeah, I'll post another pic of it and you'll see where it leads, you can go a long way while manualing on there. You can ride the sidewalk in a manual and then continue on to the next one, and manual the "skinny".

ohhh, now I see how you cleared it. It has one of those turbo boost arrows that when you hit, it makes you glow and triples your speed for a second... wasn't that like mariokart or something....

19. Hahaha!
