    Landing flat

how is it that some people on bmx and hardtails alike can land flat from high up and and not break their ankles how do they absorb the force so well?

    'cause they are good.

seriously though, it's all about the rear tire. they land like they are setting down the front wheel as lightly as possible from manual position. Leverage! a basic trials technique as well.

It's all a matter of gettig the rear wheel down first and pushing your momentum forward.
