GT Ruckus DJ - Front Crank?

    Hey all.

My friend has an '08 GT Ruckus DJ and was thinking about putting a double or triple crank on it. It currently has a single ring on the front.

Is there anything we should know before replacing the front crank?
Is the bike designed to only have one chain ring in the front?
    Will the derailleur fit?
What should we do about cable routing for the cable from the shifter to the derailleur?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Brian

You should be able to just take rings off the current crank unless it's a really cheap crank. The derailleur should be fine just set the limits.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand.....

The current stock crank only has a single ring (It's a 1x9 bike). Were you saying that I could just add 1-2 more rings with the existing crank arms and BB?

    Thanks again for the replies.

What kind of crank is it? I'll see if we have one at the shop or I can find a decent pic online.

Just took a look and it looks like the FSA Gravity Maximus crankset has a bash guard you should be able to replace with a chainring.

Yup, that's the exact crank. Thanks for the help. It will definitely save us some $$$.
