GAH! My bike is starting to drive me nuts!

Yeah, it was heaven on earth when I got it, but now the setup is starting to hinder me. I was at my friend's cousin's house today, tried this jump he had made of a wood chip pile and a ghetto ass steep wooden ramp (BMX style), set at about 4 feet apart. I cased it horribly, and it's not because of my skill level. It's cause my ride's frickin' jacked up!

Here's what I'm thinking will help:

Serious fork mod: 130 mm down to 90.
Smaller (not refering to diameter) tires: K-rads instead of high rollers. Cut some weight, and some size too.

Any other cheap mods you guys can think of? Don't say buy a cheap used frame. I'm not that desperate. YET. Other than the crazy high front end and heavy ass tires, the frame is doing me fine.

cut off extra seat post, )make sure it still goes past the junction slightly though), light tubes. put some cool stickers on it, they will greatly increase the preformance of your bike

i know it's teeny. That was my point. With a slacerk ramp, I can hit more than twice as far. I basically went straight up and then came straight down. What I'm getting at is my geo is totally killed for really steep ramps, and I don't like it.

I know I sound like a total poser sucking loser. Damn it . . .

PS: this ramp was steeper than RMS

Post a pic of your bike. But cut seatpost, cut steertube, cut bars down, run only a front brake, run SS, slam fork, skinnier tires, XC tubes, those are some basic starts. I don't know what your setup is though.

I would definitely lower that fork. I'm running a 100mm Gold Label on my Bruiser, and I'm going to lower it to 80 as soon as I get around to it. I can't imagine running 130, unless you're doing DH on it...

    it's a 130 marzocchi, too. (crazy high c2a)

It's singlespeed already. I couldn't ever take the front brake off until I have more bikes. I love stoppies, see?

The wheelset is pretty much a downhill setup.

I'm going to talk to brad about getting me set up with an 80 mm reduction kit. The bike shop guy won't do it with spacers because he doesn't want to be held liable if the fork breaks.

I'll try and see if I can get some decent pics up, not some cut off thumbnails.
