    fork questions

I'm currently running a pair of 2002 DJ 2's. I lowered them to 100 or so mm and have beat the crap out of them. I'd buy another pair but now the DJ 2's have Air Preload. what is this?

I don't like the idea of some type of air valve thing or having to use a pump for my fork.

my current 2002 DJ has Open BathSSV Valving and Coil Springs (from their website).

What is comparable to my old DJ fork with 4 inchs/100mm of travel?

preload affects how much force it takes before the fork starts to compress. dont really need to adjust it.
i have the rockshox argyle 302. only adjustment on them is rebound. they do have preload but this is determined by spacers and not an air valve. (i think)
the next model up is probably the one i would go for though as you can adjust the compression and rebound. you can also lock them out if you for road riding
they have never let me down
    i ride my bi*ch hard
