    Brake Q's?

    Hey all,

I have a question about brakes-- specifically on a (soon to be) street/ DJ/ occasional trail bike. I have a HT that has been my only bike for a few years-- set up to do a little of everything. I am in the process of building a fully for the trails/ freeride stuff. This will leave my HT for a more 'exact' purpose.

I have some shimano hydro brakes that I assume would be better on the fully- which leaves me with needing to put brakes on the HT when the shimanos move to the fully.

My thoughts are that on a DJ/Street/ occasional trail bike, I don't need a brake that offers superior modulation, fade won't come into play-- and I really just want them to lock up-- abubucas (if they are even still called that... ) , stoppies, etc. (one or two finger-- I don't care...) Should I be looking at the cheap route-- mechs (bb5/7)? Or will I regret taking the cheap route further down the road?

What do you all run and are you happy?

If you are lonely when you're alone, you are in bad company
