    advice -- bike? parts?
i'm looking at buying a bike park bike strictly for playing around on the pumptrack and build up some skills. i'm 44 yrs old so there isn't any big jumps planned, but i'd want it to hold up to some abuse as i'm 205 lbs. After doing some research, i'm looking at a new Specialized P3. The questions i have are 1) even if this isn't the "best" bike, is it a problematic bike in any way? and 2) as i'm looking at buying it new, what parts should i look to change out right from the get-go so as to get credit for any changes upfront?

    thx for any feedback.

the p3s arent that bad of bike, nice and light and come with good parts already. if it comes setup with gears, ditch them and go singlespeed. about the only thing i would change out is the pedals, but last time i rode one was in 2008

the specialized p bikes are solid builds, no question. i don't think you "have" to change out any parts from the get go. maybe pedals. just because i love concave pedal. check out odyssey and animal bmx pedals.
