    What happened to the forum?

This forum was once the most visited subforum on mtbr. Full of interesting characters, plenty of tech, and many a knowledgeable fellow. Maybe even a girl or two.

    Now there's nothing but crickets.

    What gives?

The forum is what we make it. Characters(people) come and go, interests change. Plus it's tough for a handful of posters(characters) to maintain momentum for any period of time.

Turner is behind the ball and interest has waned. No one cares about a 5 spot. It's cross country boredom.

It is weird because Turner's are better than ever. I love Turner but the absence of a true all mountain frame has not been good--at least for this forum. I have to believe Dave Turner feels they are more of a hassle than a money maker. I'm guessing that he doesn't want to deal with broken frames. Who knows.

I figure you can size up a real adrenaline junkie type mtbr member by the amount of travel and brand name on the bike...regardless if it sits in the garage most the time ! Meh , my Turner and my other bikes are just for the mere pleasure of riding ! Could careless about the past or present wannabe hardcore types that like to hear themselves boast of their skills !

Granted more tech talk and stoke would be appreciated.....Tscheezy sure knew how to cover the Interbike stuff and stoke and yeah your right something just isn't the same !

Oh contraire. I care very much about my 5 spot. There's very little cross country about it outside of the fact that I pedal it great distances to descend on it.

I'm not sure what you mean by cross country but I enduro the shlt out of mine. I even had to buy a flourescent helmet.

Of course bikes to me are tools, not roof rack jewelery where internet specs matter more than hauling ass down trails. So you know.......

    Been around since the beginning...

Sad to see one of the all-time great MTBR boards wilt, but for me its a combination of things:

This site has gotten really slow.

A lot of the old school dudes are gone (though good to see Zilla and Tidy are still around) and when that community started to dry up I just lost interest as well.

I pimped out a SC Tallboy a few years back that's perfectly spec'd for me outside of an upcoming move to 1x11 - no real need for all the chatter of years past when I had 3 Turners and lots of mods and parts swaps.

    This site is really slow.

Social media explosion, only so much time to waste on the net outside of porn - seriously though phones & social me are killing boards like this for me.

I have a lot less time to dinker on boards outside of photo and video, which is my career and more of a passion than talking about riding.

I moved from Alaska to Florida so more no long winters spent dreaming of riding singletrack without snow and living vicariously through the guys in the south.

Its faster and easier to get what I want in other places than here, especially when on my phone or ipad.

I hate the look of the boards these days, and it doesn't help that the site is so slow.

Pretty much every site that has interested me, in most subjects, has become slow.
I think you nailed it that social media now feeds the responsive/reply/update needs of the on-line community. And even that is starting to wear on folks.

Welcome back to the real world humanity, a lot has changes since you left for the nets, you have some catching up to do.
Faster is better, even when it's not.

Few vids from the past year to add some excitement. But yeah, this forum is not what it was.

Me and deanomachineo shredding on his Flux:
    <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/48665997?byline=0&amp;portrait=0&amp;color=ff9933" width="650" height="488" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

    Me and my nephew:
    <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/56276026?byline=0&amp;portrait=0&amp;color=ff9933" width="850" height="478" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

    <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/56268465?byline=0&amp;portrait=0&amp;color=ff9933" width="850" height="478" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

The most amazing thing about these videos is that it was all done on 26" wheels

I saw this 4' 5" hot as shit lady in the supermarket yesterday. She was with a dude that was easily 7'2". Two kids.
All I could think of of was 'How does he not rip her in 1/2? Do they do anal?"
It was close to midget porn, i think.
Then I went and squeezed all of the avocados.

Well, the Altitude is the best bike I have ever owned...and I have truly owned hundreds. Many hundreds, technically.
But none that I could use (their) heads as a coaster, though.
